FreeVATCalculator.online is a free, independent calculator. It gives UK freelancers, small business owners and shoppers a fast, accurate way to add or remove VAT. No spreadsheet, no sign-up, nothing to install.

The calculators use the standard HMRC VAT formulas (see our guide to how VAT is calculated) and are kept up to date with current UK VAT rates and thresholds. Figures are provided for general guidance only and don't constitute tax, accounting or legal advice. Always confirm the VAT treatment of a specific transaction with HMRC or a qualified accountant.

Why we built it

Most VAT calculators online are cluttered, slow, or bury the actual tool under adverts and pop-ups. This site is built with a lightweight web framework (Astro) specifically so the calculator loads instantly and works smoothly on mobile, where a lot of quick VAT checks actually happen.

How the site is funded
